Theresa and Tim's Coastal-themed Cornish Wedding at Tredudwell Manor

I was so looking forward to photographing Theresa and Tim’s Cornish wedding at Tredudwell Manor, near Fowey this August in particular because Theresa had told me with absolute certainty that her and Tim hoped to go for a blast of sea-air whatever the weather. Being a big fan of hiking, the gorgeous south-west coast line and congratulations the sea it was already sounding like a winner!

Escaping across the Devon border with plenty of time to beat the holiday traffic the day was already looking pretty decent weather-wise, with mizzle burning away as morning sunshine broke through. It was such a fantastic day and after a moving outdoor ceremony, accompanied by the beautiful choral voices of a ladies choir who had hidden themselves among the guests, the promised trek down to the sea commenced. First trick was squishing Theresa and her impressively multi-layered dress unto my car (worthy of a photo - see below), mission accomplished and it was as a short trip down to the car park accessing the coast path. Now, anyone who has been to Lantivet Bay will know that not only is it a fair old walk down, but the beach is accessed via some step rocks required a rope to help with the climb down. Did this quell Theresa’s quest to feel the salt water on her toes on hers and Tim’s wedding day? Of course not! So giant dress and all, down the rocks and went she, much to the admiring glances of some passers by who I think couldn’t quite believe their eyes. And so into the sea we went (yep, of course I had to get in as well, not missing out on a paddle!). It was surprisingly warm and had it not been for the call of canapés, Prosecco and lots of lovely friends and family eagerly awaiting their return I think we’d have set up camp all day! Highlights of the day included: well, the aforementioned trip to the beach of course; seeing how talented some of my former work colleagues from the Peninsula Schools of Medicine & Dentistry are (which is where Theresa and I became friends) - the stunning cake, for starters, was made by the very talented Ann; seeing some of my lovely aforementioned former work colleagues for a catch up and being able to sit down to a delicious feast with them; the Piñata basing - the little Paige boy gave it some serious welly to get those sweets out; Tim’s moving speech; the ladies choir, which made such a lovely soundtrack to the reception drinks; Theresa and Tim’s laughter, love, shared appreciation of the outdoors and sense of adventure. All in all, a top wedding day. Many congratulations Theresa and Tim, wishing you both every happiness, and many more days of sandy toes.
